OWNERSHIP AND EMPLOYMENT EQUITY

Fifth Quadrant is 60 per cent owned by its senior management. 40 per cent has been acquired by Towers Watson, a leading global consulting firm. Black individuals own 21.4 per cent. All the equity held by the shareholders in the company is fully paid for and directly held.

The pool of qualified South African actuaries has been almost exclusively white. Fifth Quadrant recognises the imperative for transformation of the actuarial profession in South Africa and the challenges that this presents. More than half of the actuarial students that we employ are black.

We comply fully with the reporting requirements of the Employment Equity Act.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are committed to standards of good corporate governance and citizenship. One element of this is our Social Responsibility programme, in terms of which we provide funding for projects or initiatives nominated by employees. The aim of this programme is to contribute towards the social development of poor communities and simultaneously to encourage our management and staff to engage in broader social development activities outside the workplace.
